Hello New Year - my plans and dreams

It’s been so long since I wrote a blog post and it feels as though a lot has happened in the space in between then and now. I recently felt the urge to write again and to share more on the blog this year, so to start things off I thought I’d share my plans and dreams for 2022 with you.

I like that January has arrived with a feeling of hope and optimism, it’s like coming up for air! As the last traces of Christmas were packed away, the dust settling from a full on few weeks, we settled back into our routines with something of a gentle exhale. Now is the time to think about the next twelve months, of what I want to achieve and do.

I like to look back over the last year to see what I learnt, what I accomplished and how I grew as a person. Last year was a hurdle for me and my mental health suffered greatly. This in turn had an effect on everything from my confidence to my work. Looking at the situation a year down the line it’s obvious that living in a strange, uncertain world, and dealing with the most obnoxious and unpleasant building team who were renovating the terraced house next door to ours for the best part of eight months were the biggest assailants on my wellbeing.

Still, from wounds we heal, and from healing we grow.

Those challenging times taught me resilience, how to really immerse myself in self care to help myself feel calmer, and how essential it is for me to feel safe.

As the builders moved on, a lovely new neighbour eventually arrived. The universe was really listening when I prayed for a kind soul to move in.

Plans and Dreams

I’ve been thinking for a long while now about how I can free up more time for making art. My days sometimes seem to disappear in the blink of an eye and once again the things I want to do the most seem pushed to the bottom of the list. Do you experience this? The other thing I have been longing to do for ages is to expand my product range. The first thing that I realised though, was that storage space would be a huge problem. As you know, I work from a small garden studio that is already pretty full of art supplies, so thinking about ordering in cushions, lampshades, device cases and so on was just not an option.

We are not even half way through the month but almost serendipitously I have been approached by a British company who create some of these very products and fulfil the orders on your behalf! I’ll be offering some beautiful new items in my store in the weeks to come, and can’t wait to share more about this collaboration with you soon!

I am also looking into other print on demand companies that I can potentially work with, and am also considering eventually using this service for my fine art print range too. Working with these companies means that all the packing and shipping is sorted by someone else, freeing up more time for me to do what I really want to do….which is to make more art.

I also intend to spend some time learning new things this year! Last year felt a little stagnant towards the end, I didn’t really spend much time focusing on growing my business so I’m excited to develop some new skills and take things up a notch - pattern design is on my radar!!
