My Hopeful Bird Art Class

Last week saw the launch of the March art class on my Ko-fi page and I think it’s going to be hands down my most popular class! I loved creating this class, teaching how I build layers of mixed media to create a really beautiful, and illustrative bird painting.

The art class has been filmed in real time, with easy to follow instructions. The relaxed pace means it’s suitable for all abilities, and there’s a materials list on the platform for you, listing all the exact materials I use to paint my own birds, and so you can get prepared before you start.

These watercolour birds first came about back in April last year, when we were just starting our journey into lockdown, and learning to cope with some seriously challenging times. My art became a healing tool, my studio a refuge, and I spent hours painting these individual birds on beautiful deckle edged watercolour paper, and finishing them with a hand written word in calligraphy ink, that brought hope and positivity. These birds literally flew out the studio and around the world, and I know how much they meant to my customers as I received the most wonderful messages from them. Some of them were bought and sent as gifts to loved ones, and others became personal symbols of positivity in a world fraught with uncertainty and fear.

It’s a real pleasure for me to share my process of how I create these birds with you, and if you’d like to take this class, and also access all other content on my Ko-fi platform, including classes, sketchbook tours, material reviews and more, then just click here.

On April the 21st, I’ll be changing the format of things slightly on my platform to make the content I share available to everyone!

If you do enjoy the content and feel inspired by it, you can choose to make a donation if you wish - these donations enable me to create better content for you (and that I hope will help you on your own creative journey), such as art process videos and more behind the scenes details.
